25 athletes to participate in the 3rd Commonwealth Youth Games

A contingent of 25 athletes and 9 officials will participate in the 3rd Commonwealth Youth Games scheduled to be held in Pune, India from 12th to 19th October 2008. Sri Lankan athletes will participate in 7 disciplines as follows:-
- Athletic
- Badminton
- Boxing
- Swimming
- Table Tennis
- Tennis and
- Wrestling
The team will be led by Mr. Rajiva Wijesinghe as Chef de Mission.
1st Asian Beach Games scheduled to be held in Bali, Indonesia

Mr. Joseph Kenny, Member of the N.O.C. will lead a small team of 20 athletes and 8 officials to the 1st Asian Beach Games scheduled to be held in Bali, Indonesia from 18th to 26th October 2008.
Sri Lanka will participate in Beach Volleyball, Marathon Swimming, Body Building, Sailing and Windsurfing competitors.
This is the first ever Asian Beach Games Festival.
Annual National Academy Sessions to be held in November
September 19, 2008
The N.O.C. is making arrangements to conduct its Annual National Academy Sessions from 8th to 12th November 2008 at Bandarawela.
These seminars are open specially to undergraduates and school leavers between the age of 19 to 25 years.
These sessions will be residential with food and accommodation provided. Being camp-type, they will consist of physical exercise in the morning and sports activities in the evening.
Those who are interested in participating in these sessions should forward a bio-data to the N.O.C. or send it via e-mail before 15th of October.
