National Olympic Academy Sessions which were held at Bandarawela from 18th to 21st December 2008

The National Olympic Academy Sessions which were held at Bandarawela from 18th to 21st December 2008 were completed on a very successful note. There were 40 participants (25 Males & 15 Females) representing Universities, Sports Associations, Armed Forces and the Media. In spite of the inclement weather conditions that prevailed during the early stages the participants were able to benefit immensely from these sessions which were the 8th in the series.

Ordinary General Assembly Meeting

The 3rd Ordinary General Assembly meeting of the National Olympic Committee convened under section 12.9 of the Constitution for the year 2008 will be held on Thursday, 11th December 2008 at 5.30 p.m. at the Olympic House, 100/9F, Independence Avenue, Colombo 07.
Sports Administration Course – 2008

One of the aspects in the development of sports in Sri Lanka in which the NOC takes a great interest is the training of Sports Administrators. Towards this end the NOC conducts regularly a Sports Administration Course for the training of Sports Administrators presently in office and those who aspire to take such office. Such a programme was conducted by the NOC at the Olympic House from 13th to 17th November 2008 with the assistance of several guest lecturers. There were 32 participants.

National Academy Sessions to be held in December

It has now been decided to hold the 2008 National Olympic Academy Sessions from 17th to 22nd December 2008 at the Bandarawela Tourist Board Resort Complex. The Opening Ceremony will be held at 09.00 a.m. on 18th December 2008 under the distinguished patronage of Mr. S Liyanagama, Secretary to the Ministry of Sports and Public Recreation. The sessions will officially close at 6.00 p.m. on 22nd December 2008 with Mr. B.D Dahanayake, Director General of Sports as the Chief Guest. |
