Advanced Sport Management Course

November 11, 2009

The Advanced Sport Management Course organized under the auspices of the Olympic Solidarity is a significant part of the academic services provided by the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka.

The objective of the course is to train Sport Administrators at national level. The entire programme is over a period of one year which consists of 6 modules comprising 3 full-day academic sessions.

The course targets volunteer and paid staff of National Sport Federations/ Associations and other bodies responsible for development of sport, involved at a senior level in the management of their organization.

Participants must follow every module as a part of the course requirements. Successful completion of the course requires 100% attendance, plus successful completion of one case study for each module and a final report on the impact of the learning process on the participant’s organization.

The sessions are conducted by qualified lecturers who are experts of their respective subject areas. The programme covers areas such as organization, strategic management, human resources management, financial management, marketing and event management.

The inaugural ASMC was launched by the NOCSL on 3rd April 2009. The ongoing programme consists of 25 participants who were chosen through a tough selection procedure. 3 modules of the course have so far been completed and the fourth session will be held from 15th to 17th January 2010.

The next academic year of the ASMC will be starting at the end of April 2010 and applications will be called in January 2010. Candidates interested in following the next course are warmly welcome.
