Olympic Day Run – 2010

National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka has held its Annual Olympic Day Celebrations, in Jaffna this year on 23rd June.
The Olympic Day Run has been historically the symbolic event that commemorates the Olympic Day. However, today, the Olympic day is celebrated with the inclusion of other activities such as educational and cultural activities in addition to its core event.
The activities held in Jaffna this year, were six kilometer Olympic Day Run, participated by 1000 school children in the Jaffna District, an Art competition amongst schools under three age categories, Olympic Quiz amongst school children & tree planting campaign which culminated in a cultural programme followed by the distribution of certificates to participants, awarded by the International Olympic Committee.

2nd Asian Beach Games – Muscat, Oman

The 2nd Asian Beach Games are scheduled to be held from 08th to 16th December 2010 in Muscat, Oman. Sri Lanka team participating in these Games will consist of approximately 60 athletes and team officials taking part in Beach Handball, Beach Kabaddi, Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Body Building, Marathon Swimming and Sailing. The Chef de Mission of the Sri Lanka Contingent for Muscat 2010 has not yet been appointed.
