Anita wins a Gold at the first ever South Asian Winter Games

For the first time in the history of the South Asian Region, a Winter Games Festival was organised by the Winter Games Federation of India which was recently held in the city of Auli located in the northern part of India. The NOCSL sent a delegation consisting of 4 members to as observers for these Games with the purpose of promoting Winter Games in Sri Lanka after establishing a Winter Games Federation in the country.

The 1st South Asian Winter Games which took place from 10th to 16th January 2011 in Auli became a historical sports festival for Sri Lanka when Anita Rollin, the only athlete who represented Sri Lanka at these Games, won a Gold Medal in Snow Boarding.

Aged 29, Anita Kumudini Rollin is a Sri Lanka born athlete who currently resides in Switzerland and is being trained by her Swiss Coach Mr. Stephan Usteri. After winning the medal, Anita was extremely happy that she brought pride and honour to Sri Lanka and with joy and excitement in her face she stated “I am very proud to have won this medal for my motherland.”
