2nd International Forum on Sport, Peace and Development

The second edition of the International Forum on Sport, Peace and Development jointly organised by the IOC and the UN Office on Sport for Development & Peace is scheduled to be held from 10th to 11th May 2011 at the UN Headquarters in Geneva.

It will combine discussions on policy development with the sharing of best practices and will access the success and challenges of using sport as a tool for human development and peace promotion and pave the way for future action in this field. A strong focus will be placed on how sport is contributing to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that have been identified by the UN as some of the world’s most pressing issues and require the support of every one.

The NOCSL has received an invitation for one local journalist to attend this Forum, hence those who are interested may send a request to the Secretary General togetherwith a write-up on “How sport is contributing to achieving the Millennium Development Goals” (app. 1000 words) before 12.00 p.m. on 18th April 2011 the latest. As the Forum is conducted in English, excellent command of English will be expected from the candidates.

OCA – Incheon Vision 2014 Programme

The OCA and Incheon City are jointly running the Vision 2014 Programme since 2007 as part of efforts to ensure the balanced development of Asian sports. They have so far been conducting programmes including invitational training (short-term & long-term), coach dispatch, sports equipment support, and joint training. The NOCSL has been offered the following programmes for which requests could be made by the NFs to send their applications.

Please send your applications to the Secretary General NOCSL on or before 12th March 2011.

 

Invitational Training (long-term)

Duration : long-term (six months)

Trainees        : long-term (two people)

Athletes must be of the same gender

Selection priority – Athletes who are potential medal winners

Location            : Incheon, Korea

Available sports : Taekwondo, Archery, Boxing, Judo, Wrestling, Shooting,

                            Swimming, Weight lifting

Preferably select one sport

Provision       : round-trip airfares, accommodation, and training uniform, etc.

Sports Equipment Support

Amount       : US$20,000

Equipment  : Taekwondo, Archery, Boxing, Judo, Wrestling, Shooting,

                      Swimming, etc.

Application conditions : Preferably apply for Korean manufactured items

Requests     : Cooperation with customs and exemption of tariffs
