1st South Asian Beach Games – Chef de Mission Meeting

The Chef de Mission Meeting of South Asian Beach Games (SABG) – Hambantota was held today, the 21st September 2011 at the Olympic House Auditorium with the participation of Mr. Kamalesh Nanavati, Chef de Mission of India, Mr. Munthaqim Ahmed, Chef de Mission of Maldives, Mr. Lama Tendi Sherpa, Chef de Mission of Nepal, Mr. Mian Muhammad Rafiq, Chef de Mission of Pakistan and Wg. Cdr. Samantha Weerasekara, Chef de Mission of Sri Lanka. Mr. Mir Akram U Ahmed, Head of Chancery of the Bangladesh High Commission in Colombo graced this occasion representing NOC Bangladesh. The Chef de Mission of Nepal will be arriving Sri Lanka tonight.
Hon. Dilan Perera, Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion & Welfare as well as the Chairman of SABG Organizing Committee was the Chief Guest and also Mr. Udaya Seneviratne, Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Mrs. Ranjani Jayakody, Director General of Sports, Mr. Maxwell de Silva, Secretary General of NOC Sri Lanka and AVM Elmo Perera, Director of SABG Secretariat graced this prestigious event.
The delegation will be visiting Hambantota tomorrow, the 22nd September to inspect the Games venues.
IV Commonwealth Youth Games, Isle of Man – 2011

The 4th Commonwealth Youth Games was held in the Isle of Man from 7th to 12th September 2011.
The team was led by Rear Admiral Shemal Fernando as the Chef de Mission which consisted of 25 Athletes and 6 Team Officials.
We had participated in Athletics, Badminton, Gymnastics, Rugby, Swimming and we are proud to let you all know that our young participants had successfully completed their task by bringing honour to the mother Land.
Siwanthi Kumari Rathnayake won Silver Medal In Women’s 400M Athletics
Achini Rathnasiri and Upuli Samanthika Won a Bronze Medal in Women’s Doubles Badminton.
It is expected that the team will be arrived in Katunayake Airport on 14th September via flight No: QR0300 at 8.15 a.m.
