Olympic Games


First participation is 1948 in the London Games. Since then Sri Lanka has participated in all the Olympic Games excepting the 1976 Games in Madrid.

Success at the Olympics

In its first appearance at the Olympic Games in 1948 Sri Lanka created sporting history by winning a Silver medal. The successful athlete was Duncan White and did Sri Lanka proud by winning a Silver medal in the 400 M Hurdles event.

Other success we had was in the Sydney Games in 2000 when Susanthika Jayasinghe won a Bronze Medal in the 200 M.
